Details about the activities of a Choir founded by the Welsh settlers in Blackstone in 1886, and nurtured by Lewis Thomas from Tal y Bont near Aberythwyth -- Thomas was 'the Coal King' of Ipswich. The Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir still sings in Welsh as well as English, and in five other languages as well. It has a close relationship with the United Welsh Church, also founded by Lewis Thomas, in this little piece of Hen Wlad 'down under'.

The Vancouver Welsh Men's Choir was formed in 1980 by a few enthusiastic members of the Vancouver Welsh Society. The choir has grown from eighteen to over one hundred singers and now has men of varied national and ethnic backgrounds. The nationalities represented are Welsh (of course), English, Scottish, Irish, German, Dutch, Chinese, Polish, First Nations - all of whom count themselves as Canadian.

Neath Port Talbot Cancer Challenge Singers

Neath Port Talbot Cancer Challenge Singers is a mixed choir of 70 voices. The choir's primary aim is raise funds for the Neath Port Talbot Cancer Challenge Charity which, since it was formed in 1997, has raised about £450, 000 for local hospitals of which the choir has contributed £40,000. When touring the UK and Europe the choir raises money for local charities. The choir is frequently asked to sing at weddings and private functions.

We are a mixed choir currently numbering 18 singers which specialises in Early Music and the Baroque. We are led by Andrew Wilson-Dickson and rehearse in Cardiff on Tuesdays in the 6 weeks before a concert. We do about 2/3 concerts per year. Potential members should be experienced choral singers and be good sight readers. They are required to take a short audition which involves singing an accompanied piece of your choice, some sight reading and some scales.
